SHIYAN ZHANG


Biographical Information

Originally from Dalian, China, Zhang graduated from the Central Institute of Art and Design in Beijing. He came to the United States in late 1988. In China he is known as a master lacquer painter. One of his large tapestries hangs at the Lausanne, Switzerland, headquarters of the International Olympic Committee. Although his Chinatown mural is his first in America, Zhang has done almost a dozen murals in China, Hong Kong, Switzerland, and the Netherlands. He lives in Rowland Heights, near East Los Angeles, and lectures on Chinese traditional arts.
