JOSEPH YOUNG
Biographical Information
Young (born 1919), a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, graduated from Westminster College and the Boston Museum School of Fine Arts, then did further studies at Cranbrook Academy, MIT, and the American Academy in Rome. He has created works in many media, including mosaic, stained glass, pre-cast concrete, granite, and wood. More than 60 of his architectural art projects are found throughout the country, including mosaics at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C., and a kinetic sculpture, called the Triforium, in the downtown Los Angeles Civic Center Mall. In 1992, his 18-foot-high Holocaust Monument was completed in Pan-Pacific Park, just east of the Farmers' Market.
