IAN WHITE
Biographical Information
The son of Charles White, Ian shares his father's sense of responsibility to raise consciousness with his art. His initial interest in murals developed out of an early exposure to the political billboard-like murals popular in Nicaragua during the rule of the Sandinistas. He visited that Central American country several times while growing up. After graduating in 1989 from the San Francisco Art Institute, he assisted long-time family friend Richard Wyatt on Cecil. His works on canvas, which often use collage, have been exhibited in group shows locally and in New York.
