GREGORY PICKENS
Biographical Information
Pickens studied cartooning, painting, and illustration in New Jersey, Brazil, and England before receiving his B.F.A. in drawing from Pennsylvania's Kutztown University in 1984. He earned an M.F.A. from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 1988. He completed two murals in San Antonio in 1988 before moving to southern California where he has worked on several mural projects with Judith Baca. These include the GREAT WALL OF LOS ANGELES as restoration production supervisor, GUADALUPE MURAL in Guadalupe, California as design and painting assistant, and THE WORLD WALL as production supervisor. Pickens currently teaches mural painting, drawing, and collage at the Orange County High School of the Arts.
