OLINKA HRDY


Biographical Information

The daughter of Czech immigrants, Hrdy (born 1902) grew up in Oklahoma, working her way through the University of Oklahoma by painting murals on campus. She also studied with Frank Lloyd Wright. Following a successful career as a fabric designer in New York City, she came to Los Angeles in 1933. After the Depression she worked for many years as an industrial designer for several local companies, designing such things as electronic cabinets, radios, and wallpaper.
