JANE GOLDEN

Biographical Information

Golden studied art at Stanford University, Mount Holyoke College, and the University of Florence in Italy. From 1977-1979 she did murals and taught art to children in Santa Monica under a federal grant. She then spent two years as artist-in-residence at Brockman Gallery in Leimert Park, funded by a California Arts Council grant to conduct a mural program for the City of Los Angeles. In 1981 she co-founded the Public Art Foundation, which did murals with youth on probation. Since 1984 Golden has been artistic director of the Mural Arts Program (formerly called the Anti-Graffiti Network) through Philadelphia's Department of Recreation. Well over 1,000 murals have been completed under her leadership.
