ROBERT ARENIVAR


Biographical Information

Arenivar (c.1931-1985) was born in the northern California industrial suburb of Pittsburg, and he grew up in East Los Angeles. Self-taught as an artist, he quit his factory job after Goez Art Gallery and Studio was formed in order to work full-time as an artist. He spent many years as head designer and illustrator for Goez. He also did several projects with longime friend David Lopez, including a 1984 painting of the Hispanic Medal of Honor winner that hangs in the Pentagon. They also did a mural together in 1985 on an East Los Angeles bar (at Hammel and Gage) depicting the history of Mexico. It was destroyed in 1991 or 1992.
