A montage of events in the history of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, the country's oldest black denomination, and of First A.M.E., the oldest AfricanAmerican congregation in Los Angeles. In the upper lett corner are images showing the cultural legacy and achievements of Africa. Below that is the enslavement of blacks in America. In the lower right corner is Biddy Mason, a slave who won her freedom in a Los Angeles court then went on to become a successful businesswoman and philanthropist. What became Fint AM.E.
