Description
According to legend, St. Thomas, known to Catholics as the Evangelist of the Americas, arrived in Mexico sometime around 28 A.D. His ship had a serpent figurehead at the bow which to the ancient Mexicans looked like their god Quetzalcoatl. The Virgin of Guadalupe is on the left side. On the right side is a large map of pre-Columbian Mexico showing the areas supposedly visited by St. Thomas.
