Description
The main panel is a trompe l'oeil in which the viewer appears to be looking through an open gate to an outside scene of historic downtown Long Beach, circa 1940. This project was the first public art commissioned under Long Beach's recently adopted Percent for Public Art Program, which requires that one percent of total costs for public and private developments valued at over $500,000 be allocated to finance public art projects.
