Description
Salazar was a reporter for the Los Angeles Times who was killed in 1970 during an anti-Vietnam War protest in East L.A. called the Chicano Moratorium. While sitting in the Silver Dollar bar on Whittier Boulevard, he was hit in the head by a police tear gas cannister. Before his death, his progressive writings in the Times were read avidly by many in the Chicano community.
