Description
Somewhat surreal imagery addresses the dream of Latin American soccer players to become stars juxtaposed with the reality of the Mexican-United States border and the plight of the undocumented. Summer of 1994 was the first time World Cup Soccer--the most watched sporting tournament in the world--was held in the United States. Eight of the 52 games, including the final, were held at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. The five World Cup-sponsored murals were placed close to freeways marking the route from Los Angeles International Airport to Pasadena.
